5 Things that changes when you live abroad

Hello Hello Guys!

This week, I was with a couple of friends in the park and we were discussing what effectively changed in our life once we decided to live abroad. After that day I thought it could be a good topic to share with you, so here we go!

5 things that changes when you live abroad:

1. You don't belong to just one place anymore:

The question "Where are you from?" will be a struggle to answer. Every place that you pass thru will start being a little part of you. Me, for example, I belong to the happiness of Orlando in the summer, and also to the lights of New York City. I belong to the beaches of Miami and the safety of Toronto. I belong to the people I met in those places.

2. Your material life fits in a luggage, but the rest does't fit anywhere:

"Whats up?! How was your trip?" This is one of the more classics questions that people does when you are back home, and usually it's one of the hardest to get an answer. It isn't because you are missing words, they are just running thru your mind and even if you try you can't really express how cool was it.

3. You usually leave standards behind:

When you are abroad, your manners, even if you are in a similar culture than yours, change.  Its common that some situations will require some attitudes from you that you consider normal, but in other cultures it is far away from being normal. You start getting a different points of view what makes you analyse everything. Learning that is also an opportunity to get to know yourself better and you also start to listen yourself more frequently.

4. Your free time has another meaning:

Usually at their own countries, people are used to get lazy in the weekends and that Wednesday nights. TV seems more attractive and your bedroom seems like calling you every single minute. Otherwise, living abroad, pull you out from your bed and makes you get out from the couch to see whats your day has reserved to you. You value every single minute enjoying everything whats the new city has to offer.

5. You are more free than never:

When you realize that you can be by yourself in a totally different place, in a new world, with a totally different language and people who you never saw in you life before, you are necessarily more free than before. Is certain that sometimes some challenges will appear, but the fact when you pass thru that you don't depend on anybody anymore, and the world turns to be a little more of you.
